If I do get aother Raptor after this one and it has OP like mine does----then on to a Chevy. No excuse now that I have seen the paint done right on another vehicle! Ford's problem WILL COST THEM A SALE if it is not fixed by next year! Not that they would care lol...

Here in Florida, the builders use what is called orange peel to hide the imperfections in drywall. Its just a finish thats sprayed on to new drywall. It hides everything. Then you paint over it. Looks alot like the pictures. If you fix a wall with orange peel you have to respray to match texture. You buy it at Home Depo

With all that said, I think Ford wants it that way. I could be wrong. It may be a much faster process to get the car out the door.

And I am not saying you could use drywall orange peel on your car. Its just an example that it hides imperfections and looks the same as the paint

No,it's more the fact the paint systems are set up for regular f150 size trucks and as we know the raptor is a little larger putting the sprayers at a orange peel distance.
Now this can be corrected but at a price of time and we have a hard time waiting now!

Not a dumb question. When I first heard someone refer to that, I was like, "I never noticed an orange tint to the paint"...ha ha Has nothing to do with color.

Orange peel is a textural type issue that you can see in various lights and angles. Its not really the paint, but the clear coat finish. It is smooth to the touch, but if you look closely you will see a texturish type finish that resembles the outside of an orange peel. Black seems to show it the most. Nothing you can do about it.

As far as the OPs comment; Not limited to Ford, my 2008 Corvette Z06 has orange peel too. However, my 99 Viper GTS was flawless. Both of them are black.

The Edge, MKX, Escape are all newer vehicles meaning their assembly lines have also seen more updates than the current F 150 which has really only seen cosmetic updates since the earlier part of the last decade. I'm going to ASSume that newer techniques/ processes will be used on the next generation of F 150.

Has anyone checked a King Ranch or HD F-150 to see if it has the same issues?
