When I picked mine up at the body shop after they buffed out all the scratches the owner said, I want to show you something about your paint. He took out a mill thickness digital guage and it read .07 that reading is the clear cooat, paint and primer.Thats thin as a sheet of paper or less, he walked over to a chevy compact car and it read 4 mills. If we don't wax our Raptors do death, the clear coat will turn to dust in no time! I don't get how they can make the finish look so good when its so thin.
It was mostly the flairs,a few small scratches in other places too.He said he had to wet sand some and most buffed out,i can't find the scratches anymore, very pleased with the work!He spent 6 hrs on it and charged me 300.00
he wet sanded the paint AFTER discovering how "thin" the clear coat is? dude's got balls.... the thing that can suck with wet sanding large areas is it's impossible to match the factory orange peel and the areas might stick out. my flares got beat that day too
The flairs are his work, not sure how thick he painted and clear coated them, they needed the wet sanding. He only buffed the small scratches on the body.
