When I picked mine up at the body shop after they buffed out all the scratches the owner said, I want to show you something about your paint. He took out a mill thickness digital guage and it read .07 that reading is the clear cooat, paint and primer.Thats thin as a sheet of paper or less, he walked over to a chevy compact car and it read 4 mills. If we don't wax our Raptors do death, the clear coat will turn to dust in no time! I don't get how they can make the finish look so good when its so thin.

he wet sanded the paint AFTER discovering how "thin" the clear coat is? dude's got balls.... the thing that can suck with wet sanding large areas is it's impossible to match the factory orange peel and the areas might stick out. my flares got beat that day too :D

The flairs are his work, not sure how thick he painted and clear coated them, they needed the wet sanding. He only buffed the small scratches on the body.

Really on the fence, some say go for it, some say no.

My surrounding friends and family have kind of told me to re-analize my vehicle situation. It looks like my '96 F350 is going to go bye bye. Thats gonna hurt a little. But on the other hand, if I get a little honda for commuting, then the Raptor will be a play-only truck, black is almost a for sure.

I guess I should really try to test drive one before I set my heart on it though.

Do they need cash in hand to let me test drive? I assume a lot of people that aren't going to buy try to go in and play around in these trucks. Kinda ruins it for those that are actually going to buy in the future.

Depends on the dealer. I had good luck with test drives around me, but at the same time some dealers won't let them out on test drive PERIOD, end of story. But you won't be disappointed. Testing driving will simply seal the deal.
