Yep, the KRs are about as noisy as anything.

Sam

but completely worth it. I'm inclined to pull the set off of my truck that I'm using right now to "save" them for specific terrain. They're one of the pre-production configurations with the Dakar compound, slightly different tread pattern and a slightly different carcass shape ( and very different carcass construction with lots of kevlar.) For whatever reason, BFG used a different combo for the prod race tires and these things are amazing. there is no chance that I'll ever be able to buy another set.

if I use a hand mic and the integrated speaker on my tk790H, I can't hear a word the second that I get over 80 mph on pavement. (not even muffled unintelligible traffic.)

I don't mind it because my truck is getting a full cage, intercom, and headsets, but I thought it was pretty funny.

Noise - I would say a 20% increase all though I eventually got used to it.

Ride - E load range vs C....yes a little firmer ride but I think the thicker tread negates most of the difference.

Stones - depending on terrain I guess but again tread pattern is much wider so smaller stones will not get caught.

Size - I got schooled here because BFG makes this tire in both 315/70/17 & 35/12.50/17. I started out w/ the 315/70/17 & the actual tire mounted was at least an 1 to 1.5" shorter than the stock KO2'S. So the folks at 4WP let me trade them in on the 35/12.50/17 which were almost the same size as the stock KO2's. Basically actual vs stated tire sizes do differ between tire type, brand, mounted, rim width, etc.

High speed - highway lane changes like above 65-75mph seem a little a less stable. Again probably has to do with the thicker tread.

I have the KM3'S on my stock rims & the KO2'S on my Venomrex Rims. When the KO2's are done I will probably go with the KM3'S.

I was not schooled / didn’t educate myself and got the smaller 315s. Hopefully they let me swap to the 35s. They look smaller and I don’t care for it.

Yes they are louder and yes they will decrease your mileage. If you are worried about those I would look at another tire.

Installed 35x12.5x17 KM3 last week replacing my stock tires after 5000 miles - I personally don't think they're much louder from the stockers, but then again they look, feel and perform so much better offroad maybe I've gone deaf from the excitement!

Go for it If you're in need of new tires and drive off road

We run the KR2s on our Class 1 car. BFG told us the Dakar KDR2 version is not "stout" enough for the car, the 37" version anyway. The tires are tough. I run them on my Raptor since we have a bunch of them. They are noisy but wear great. They do suck in the snow also. Haha.

Guessing you don’t rub since you didn’t mention it. But I still will ask does the 35s with stock “beadlocks” rub ?

Thanks

I'll put it this way, a certain ultra 4 team that has a winning record and who's buggy is a tad portly ran this exact tire the year before the KR3 was released. They held up over all sorts of abuse, so far, they look almost brand new even after 1000 hard dirt miles.

Unfortunately, I didnt drive truck stock hard enough to find out about rub but I've seen a couple others mention it though nothing serious - someone like @zombiekiller would likely have a better real world answer.

Good luck and have fun!

FYI, BFG has a new size out for the KM3, 37 x 13.5 x 17. I'm running 37 x 12.5 x 17 now, but may move up to that one. It is only 4 lbs heavier at 81 lbs, which is fairly light for that size tire.
