Better low-midrange response w/o supercharging?

What can be done to make this truck more responsive below 3k RPM?
It has power up top, but for a 6.2 it seems like it needs to be screaming more than it should to get going in a hurry.

What mods would make it snappier on the low end? Tuner maybe?

Supercharger is not in the budget, and I don’t want gears, as it is my daily driver and I don’t want to spend $900/month on gas.

Thanks

Tune it. Can't recommend anythinf specific but I've got a 91 octane tune on mine and it works wonders. Gets my 37s up to speed real quick.

Honestly, my real answer is 4.88s, but since you ruled them out...

A pedal commander will make it feel more responsive.

I concur with a tune being the best bang for the buck on power adders. Throw an S&B air intake in their, too. Headers would add a fair bit of power.

A torque converter would also help a lot if it's in the budget.

I'll try a tuner then.

EricM - do you have long tubes on your truck? Noticeable low end power?

Get a Tune First!!! Or see if there is a great deal on combo Tuner/Tune/CAI

It will remove the 3,500 rpm limit that holds the Throttle Body from opening up 100%
That's why she feels like pig at slower speeds and mini vans leave you sitting on the light.
There's also a 25 to 35 HP + gain in rwhp (mostly depends on Octane)
Shift strategy is greatly improved
Top speed limit can be removed.

Cold Air Intake upgrade is little to no gain.
Headers 10 to 15 rwhp

4.56 Gears would not hurt you that bad in fuel with the 6 speed trans , unless you drive 100mph all the time , but it would you give you the low end your looking for. The Gen 1 raptor SDHQ ecoboost conversion had 4.88 and 37 inch tires and would out accelerate a tuned 6.2 raptor.

Any idea exactly how much a set of 4.56s would effect the mpg? I haven't been able to get any real numbers from anyone so far.

You're not going to get any real scientific data on this. MPGs in these trucks is always dependent on usage and driving style. You may do slightly better around town with a light foot. But if you've got a heavy foot and you cruise at 90 on the freeway, you're going to lose something.

Try the tune first.
