Anyone find success with the DIY spray on ceramic coatings? Any particular brand and kind? I don’t mind doing it myself and saving the $1200 detail shops charge.

I haven't tried a spray on ceramic, but I have coated my current truck, and if I'm able to pick up the new one, I plan on coating that one in two weeks.

Like most things, prep work is the key. Take your time and do it right.

I used Wolfgang Uber Ceramic last time and have bought it again for the new truck. There may be better, but it worked out very well for me.

I just picked up Chemical Guys ceramic coat and plan on doing my truck as soon as I get it… I’ve always liked all of their products in the past

I used The Last Coat 2.0 when my truck was new. Easy to apply and lasted a year…truck is garage kept. I just did a wash, clay, decon, and paint correction, and used Griots 3 in 1 ceramic wax. It gets really good reviews, we’ll see how it does. I did two coats 24 hours apart, super slick and smells pretty good too.

Most of the cost is in the prep/correction work. I would opt for PPF on partial front, hood, and fenders if you really want to get your worth for actual protection.
This is what I did. I had them do the full hood, front fenders, mirrors, door handle cups, and door edges. They cut around the graphics on the hood and to not make them glossy. Turned out great!

How long it take you to do all that?

All the prep was a Saturday, did the first coat on Sunday the gave it 24 hours and did a second. It’s the prep that takes all the time, the sprays are pretty much wipe on and wipe off.

And if your not familiar with Bead Maker check it out. I use it as a topper and drying aid. It doesn’t last very long but it’s pretty cheap and is crazy slick and adds a lot of gloss.
