There are a lot of options out there when it comes to replacing the stock intercooler, including quite a few that mount to the stock location and don't require any modifications to make them fit. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of Garrett, Injen, Mishimoto, Whipple, etc.

Is there a consensus "best in class" when it comes to an intercooler for the stock location?

When I was looking into a stock location replacement (before deciding to relocate), the top intercoolers on my list were the Garrett and AMS. These seemed to have the best fit/finish and ease of install which were my priorities.

(AFE)BladeRunner GT Series Intercooler. Keeps the stock louver operation...25-30% increase in areal. Complete plug and play replacement without any impact to stock operation of cooling louvers. You get more area to cool the air, there is a built in self drain for condensation and an optional **** injection fitting. There's nothing better without changing the stock setup, reloacting adaptive cruise, etc, etc

I just installed the Whipple FMIC on my 2019 raptor and very happy with it, only take me 1hr to get the job done. I think Shelby raptor using it too!

It really depends on what your looking for. If you want performance gains you can feel you need to just get a tune first or in conjunction with the IC. I want to save my warranty without the worry so I went with the Mishimoto but did it because I was towing a 36’ 8,000lbs travel trailer from Texas to California. When I picked up and towed the trailer from Virginia back to Texas the performance and gas mileage got so bad the drive was miserable. Like by the end I was getting about 4-5mpg just due to heat soak. However after installing the Mishimoto that is much larger than stock even though it mounts in the same location also flows much better. I drove to San Jose Cali strait only stopping for gas and food and got about 8.5mpg running 70-75mph the whole way with zero loss in noticeable performance even when going through the mountain passes.

An OEM replacement IC is pointless. Save the time and money, get a tune
So many things wrong with this statement. First off it's an aftermarket replacement, in the OEM location. Secondly upgrading your intercooler isn't pointless. Much more consistent performance under boost when you up the cooolng efficiency your ic.

Just wondering If you install a aftermarket full size IC like Cobb or Mountune would the truck end up with overheating problems because the IC sits right in front of the radiator and takes up all the room of the air flows for the radiator.
