Possibly the most poorly written "story" I've read in a long time.

"Jeremy Graczyk and Kroeker — both members of the U.S. Marine Corps reserve — tried to save the driver. Using their first aid and combat medical training, Graczyk and Kroeker climbed into the smoldering minivan.
After rescuing the driver that night in the Mexican desert, the KORE Performance team went on to finish in second place in the Baja 1000 in the team’s modified TRX4 Ram 1500."

They "tried to save the driver" and "after rescuing the driver that night."

In any case the two USMC Reservists deserve recognition for stopping to help a badly injured person.

Here is a link to the Race Dezert thread:

The first and 4th pages are the ones worth reading, IRC

One thing to take away from this article is that in situations like this, each person is on their own for medical care. One link offered up was to the Wilderness First Responder course at the National Outdoor Leadership School. Anyone that spends time in the backcountry camping, off-roading, etc should consider this. Incredible story. It really speaks volumes about Kent and Jeremy. It is sad to hear that this happened, and at the same time it is great to hear there are people like Kent and Jeremy that stepped in and saved a life with much compassion and care. FFS
