The tie rods come out pretty easily, which would just leave the lugs sticking up, but those are only 1.5-2in tall. Removing the rest would be a little more involved, having to pull the tail light to get at the bolts and pulling the bed bolt. You might be able to fabricate a nut plate for the bedsides, but attaching it so it stays in place if you take the bolts out would be tough. The holes in the bedside are pretty big so a nut insert wouldn't work very well either. You're probably better off taking out the tie rod and laying a 2x4 down to protect the lugs
