I purchased the bed extender with my truck because I was coming from another F-150 with a 6.5' bed and my last two trucks where longer beds. I was concerned with now having a 5.5' hence why I got it. I found since its so much lower than the bed and cuts off the corners of the tailgate use, I felt this option was more or less a waste of money.

I imagine others probably already know this so this might a big whoopee dee post but I just realized today that you can put it backwards too. Works great when you need to throw in a few things in the bed and don't want them sliding around. Went to Sams today and worked good for all that loose stuff we got.

No longer in my mind a waste of money.

Yes, that's how I use mine all the time. It beats the hell out of climbing in the bed or having to reach over the side and possibly scratching the paint.

I keep all my tools and recovery gear toward the tailgate by using the extender like that. Well worth the money to me

I bought the bed extender strictly for this use. With the Fibermax and Bedrug I now have a 2-zone trunk without taking any space out of the cab.

I thought this was a cool option and in 3 years it has seen very little use. Flipped out about 3 times and was helpful. Flipped in a few times and not as useful, most of the time it was awkward and when loaded up for a run my stuff just did not fit so it sat in the storage position. I found I just did not need it for even groceries and small stuff. So I removed it before Snoball this year and it was nice to have the extra area, it still sits in the garage and I don't miss it, I think it would be nice on a truck with a much longer bed. I will keep it because I am sure I will use it again some time. It would be nice if it folded up smaller and freed up a little more space when not in use.

Use mine every week hauling my bike to the area Motocross tracks….ain't lost nuthin yet…!!
Use it on the "flip side" hauling small cargo, cooler, fuel cans….etc….nothing rolls around.
Works great with my Alpha 1 Chase Rack too….
Even trimmed it up so it'll work with my bed stabilizers if needed…
Easy to remove too….didn't use it for TRR14.
Great invention….wish I'd thought of it first and sold it to Ford….

Do tell, would like to do that too?

Yep….just used a dremel w/ a cutting wheel to notch out just enough plastic to be able to use the TMX bed stabilizers w/ the bed extender flipped inboard & tailgate closed.

Just pin the stabilizer from the bottom, swing the bar up & trace the bar outline on the plastic & cut it out a little bit @ a time refitting the bar until you get it where you want it….

I usually don't run the stabilizers unless I'm attending an event….and I usually don't run the bed extender @ an event….but I have the option if I need it…..

You can't run the extender outboard w/ the tailgate down & use the stabilizer bars due to the pin used to anchor the bed extender…..you can't notch that part w/o cutting into the bed pin…thus ruining the bed extender….

It's so easy….an Aggie could do it….. <;-)
