Just took a pretest for the general. Passed. But I do think I should study some more. I work radios almost every day for my job (US Coast Guard. I'm a tower watch stander/radio operator, boat crewman and LE officer). So most of this came very easy and I knew what most of the abbreviations were. But I'm also not very sober at the moment, so that may have effected my score (Missed the maximum amount lol). Hope to have my "official" FCC license by the end of the year.

Taking my technican level test on the 21st. Looking forward to being official.

Just picked up a Icom 880H for the truck on Ebay.

Just what I need, another hobby....

Good luck! I still haven't gotten around to taking the test.

Not sure if that radio gets all the HAM channels, and there isn't much interesting that I've found around LA. You might want to give the W6NUT 147.435 repeater a listen once in a while - it can be entertaining.

Never thought I would see a HAM thread in a Raptor Forum, not a Hammy myself, have GROL. Love working on radios for work, just don't bring it home.
