Beauty Ring Torque Specs?

Ok, the original question was about Gen 2 bead lock capable rims. Again on my 18 the factory beauty ring bolts had yellow/white thread lock from the factory. I used blue thread lock when I reinstalled the bolts. I loosened the bolts on one rim yesterday and had no seized bolts. The bolts had been in for about 6 months & maybe 5k miles. See pic below.

I plan to remove the rest of the bolts in a few days to have the beauty rings power coated so if I have any additional problems I'll update the post.

Also I'll make a note of the torque as well.

I've seen plenty of debate on whether the Gen 2 beauty rings must be removed when changing the tires. I had 2 sets of KM3'S installed on these rims. First installation was on the OEM painted rings & I noticed no scratches. But before the 2nd installation I painted the beauty rings with Rust-Oleum Peel Coat & I did notice some damage from the 2nd tire install.

Anyway I've reviewed the Raptor Supplement regarding info on mounting tires / beauty rings and found nothing. If anyone has official documentation regarding the tire mounting & Gen 2 beauty rings that would be great!47ade19913aef8dc11c241c962b7f424.jpg

the ring has to come off when you change your tires. if they are tightened down with threadlock, it can cause a headache. i had a tire shop overtorque the bolts when i got new tires once and the next time i went in for tires, (6weeks later) had a total of 14 stripped out bolts. all had to be drilled out. and if they try to change the tire with the ring on, get ready for a very long tire change and lots of scratches on the ring.

Perfect, was trying to find out if the trim rings were to be removed or left on for a tire change. Picked up a screw right in the center tread and going to have to take into tire shop for repair/replacement. And rather than have the trim ring bolts over torqued/stripped, I'll remove/reinstall myself...

So they don't really need to be tightened down too hard, just good and snug should do it? And no locktite.

locktite!? Yeah try that shit and see what happens.

Just another thing being made into a problem that isn't a problem at all

tighten that shit until snug. end of story

do you really know what that ring is for?

whole point is keeping the tire on the rim when the air is low. so yeah, would make changing the tire kind of difficult

The question was about the beauty rings, which don't hold the tire or provide any other function other than cover up the bolt holes available if you do opt for bead locks. Given that it is a great idea to remove the rings yourself if you don't trust the tire shop to do it without scratching them.

so still pretty dumb to locktite or try to not remove and still do a tire change.

take off yourself. when putting on tighten until snug. easy right?
