Done the route several times and you're good to go stock. It's nice to have a bump stop kit in case you get a little carried away and hit a nice washout. But, if you're being cautious, you're fine. If you aren't carrying a second spare and get a flat, do the smart thing and call it a day. Also, I would get at least a motionx app and have the route on it.

Hey all I'm looking to check out the Barstow to vegas route with my buddy who has a full suspension 02 f150. My buddy lives in vegas so I'd probably spend take the scenic route there spend the weekend in Vegas then take the roads home. My truck is stock and from what I've read lowrance gps would be a good idea. I Won't be flying since itd be my first time out and it's a stock truck, but my question is do I need any suspension work prior? Is there cell reception anywhere? Do I need a cb radio to call for help if something happens? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

have you done this yet? M3dragon and myself worked on a route and i have the gps file with all the danger markers in there from when i ran it. its alot of fun. there is a section where going out vegas is fun as shit but on the return you need to watch out because the berm you flew off of is now a wall. so take it slow and someone will need to spot the front end to make it over. i have been debating going back out there with an Auger to make the transition for gradual. PM me and i'll send you everything i got. you see people along the way too, people hunt sheep out there.

Never got the follow up with noted hazards and cautions. Was hoping to get these so people know where to slow down and not break stuff.

Also was hoping for some pics to share on the trails so people know where to get those fun shots.

I have the map file you sent me with your idea before I fully mapped it for you.

PM sent. yeah there are for sure some bad spots out there. most of the holes in the road are marked with rock build ups from other people that you can see when coming up on them. didnt really take a bunch of pics, got some video. the CA/NV border line coming from sandy valley into primm is all rock, so its just a bumpy 2hrs of driving slow. same goes for the route from primm up to goodsprings. but once you hit that cattle gate is opens up to a really fun section , so much that at the end i turned around and did it a few times.
