Here is a screenshot from a 2017 Ford Raptor install on youtube.

Clearly has shimmed rails not a block of plastic like I received.

I have the same plastic on my rails as you. Tried removing them after mediocre fit, and it was worse without them. I put them back and that's how it sits after a week. Not thrilled with the fit and finish, but does not look as bad as yours either.

Either make your own shim setup that fixes it or send it back. What else can you do. I have to modify pretty much anything I buy in some way to make it perform the way Iwant.

I had to remove those "shims" from mine for the rails to be level and cover to operate as it should.

I sent bak an email w pics above. Worst case I'll rip some acrylic or something w the table saw in a long tapered shim. Without some type of shim it seems the flaps on the cover won't seal as well because the cover won't sit as low. My 13 had a taper on the bed but the gen2 seems pretty close to square.

I made my own shims out of an old plastic pvc box from Home Depot. Its half the thickness of those shims and works much better.
