hello, I am getting conflicting information from various websites about wether or not you can close the tailgate with the G2 cover fully closed. Could someone please confirm?

I just ordered the G2 and may have to cancel the order.

Thanks in advance

Technically, with the G2, you can close the tailgate without lifting the panel. However, you will end up damaging the rubber seal that goes across the panel - and it likely won't seat correctly and let water in. To properly close, you need to lift the 3rd panel slightly, close the tailgate and let the panel drop into place.

I have the Gator FX3, but it's exactly the same as the G2.

Thank you. I’m just gonna swap it for the MX4 since I like the matte finish better, but it does almost seem the G2 would be better for water intrusion. I should maybe re-visit the Lomax one also.

G2 leaks
G2 as pointed out, lift last panel then close gate
Mx4 leaks less, no brainer closing, better no dent panels

edit, get the one with matt plastic type panels, aluminum clad panels dent easily
