Lord of the Raptors
I think I want to grow this deal a little more organically. I'll tell everyone what I have in mind, and would love some feedback.
Things I don't need feedback on.
1) Baja being dangerous. It's not
2) You really need to have good people to guide the trip. I do.
3) etc.
So far what we have talked about is crossing on March 4 or 5 in Tecate. Doing 3 or 4 days in the dirt, ending up in San Felipe Thursday, spend Friday in SF for tech inspection and a clam bake, then head out to the desert Friday night to set up a pit, Saturday watch the race and pit. Sunday morning, head back to the border crossing in Mexicali.
We will probably camp 3 nights. 2 at the pit and 1 on the trail somewhere.
I plan on opening it up to 15 trucks max. Cost will be somewhere between 500-750.
What is included for the price.
All food and non alcoholic drinks on the trail.
Guides, Sweeper Trucks, GPS File.
HWY truck and trailer with extra tires, parts, etc.
Negotiated hotel rates (You will have to pay for your own hotel)
What's not included
Alcohol. On your own for this.
Mexico insurance (I am working on getting us an insurance sponsor with a
discounted rate)
Hotels
Meals in town (except the clam bake)
Recovery. If you break on the trail and we can fix it, that's part of the trip. If you *** up and have to be trailered out by the HWY truck, its going to cost you. (This is to discourage bravery)
What's required.
GPS
40 Watt or better VHF radio capable of transmitting on 151.775 mhz.
A Good attitude
Aftermarket Lighting
Raptor in good working order (no you don't need every bolt-on under the sun, but don't show up with leaky shocks)
This trip is just an idea I came up with a while back. I'd love to share Baja with some more Raptor owners. I don't have anything official yet. But this is how I am leaning on structuring the trip. We will probably split into two packs, each lead by an experienced baja guide. Each followed by a sweeper loaded with tools, parts and tires to help out. We will leave no one behind. You will have a GPS file marked with hazards, as well as your guide calling back hazards. We will stay at hotels with secure parking lots, and crummy beds. Can't beat it!
Seriously though. Let me know if you're interested. I am trying to figure out if there is enough interest to make this trip happen.
