Done... We'll just do the ultimate shootout. We'll take one of every Baja Designs light from the S1s up to the LP9s (although those are gonna basically just destroy the image, it's gonna be a snowstorm of white light).

We'll do each light in a Spot, Wide Cornering, Driving/Combo and Work/Scene..

Give us some time as it's going to take a bit to throw that ultimate shootout together

Was looking to run 3 of these lights on each side of the bumper. Mainly for on road use.

Squadron SAE
Squadron Sport(driving combo)
S1 Spot

I realize the S1’s can only be utilized on empty roads or off road.

Or am I wasting lights maybe not being able to utilize them all the time? Or might S1 wide cornering have more use for some on road situations? I just would like to have a pair of lights with some throw if needed.

Based my trial/ error and spending too much $$$$ learning the hard way, I recommend flood/ driving/ SAE style anywhere below the headlights. Highlights and above, then a spot pattern is applicable.

The triple light setup you're describing is a very good setup. The SAE's are ideal for in town and out of town use. Designed to meet all SAE requirements, they throw great light but won't blind oncoming traffic. The S1's are bright! At 2375 lumens, these little lights pack a punch. And the Squadron Sport are bright as well. Not as bright as the Pro's but still very bright. The S1's in wide cornering and the Squadron Sports in driving/combo would offer good range and definitely plenty of width lighting for you.

Here's our triple bezel kit with the S1's in wide cornering and two pairs of SAE's.

I’m now considering 2 pairs of SAE’s. That’s 10k lumens, should be pretty bright on the road. Based on recommendations maybe the S1’s in wide cornering as well.

Amything in the spots may spend more time off than on. Is it my understanding low mounted spots will create a narrow beam of light on the road or just put nothing down close ahead of you? Raptor36 I value your findings when you utilized these lights and what the spot’s lacked to provide. Should help me make my choice in lights much easier.

Thank you. Anytime. I spent an assload of $$$$ mounting spots down low. I didn’t know any better. I could not angle the light down onto the road. The spot literally just traveled parallel with the road.

That is one thing that is awesome with Baja Designs. They should have been my first light. It would have saved me loads in the long run by just changing the lens vs buying whole new lights.

I actually just replaced my Combo lens on my ONY+ to all wide cornering. That light bar is bumper mounted. I get sooo much more light now than before. I had nothing to catch the spot beam. Unless I was approaching a turn in a mountain road.

Looks like one of the above vendors has already got you in the right direction. The all wide cornering is what I would do. Hands down. You will appreciate the lights more.

Thanks for your feedback. This helps to explain it vs trying to picture beam patterns. The spots are really just that tight spot beams. They do sound useless for on road. Lights that light up the road is what I need most. Lighting up mountainsides won’t serve me that often. I’m really thinking 2 pairs of Squadron SAE’s and 1 pair of S1’s wide cornering for when I can use them for extra punch. Doesn’t sound like I can go wrong in most cases with this setup.

I think that would be a great set up. Very functional. And, since they are SAE, you should be able to use them often.

I wonder if one of the vendors can build you a harness utilizing a three position switch. Essentially off/SAE/SAE + S1. Would make for a very clean install. Good luck. Post your set up when done :)

Edit: didn’t realize that 2 SAE per side is prob against the law and might be too bright for oncoming traffic.

Per side, I say 1 SAE and the rest, regardless of size and sport/pro, are clear wide corning.
Just my opinion on what would be most useful. Good thing with BD, you can always change the lens.
