Auto Breaking FTW!

Saved by the collision avoidance breaking today. Was turning left out of a shopping center (Raptor in it's natural habitat) onto a 4 lane road with a center turn lane. Clear on my left with traffic in the far lane (same direction I was intending to go) about 200 yards down the street. I pulled across the 2 lanes into the turn lane and was slow rolling to merge and the auto break kicked in. The truck that was in the far lane cut across my face into the turn lane and stopped immediately. I had my eye on my mirror since I was merging and didn't notice the abrupt stop in front of me but the sensors did and I was able to slam on my breaks to add to the Raptor already doing so. Was inches away from their bumper. Wife was on her phone and didn't know what happened. I was silent the rest of the way home processing how close that was. Definitely sold on the collision avoidance feature on my future vehicles.

I hate pulling out in the scenario you describe, for the reason you describe.
