So I just finished up installing my Father’s Day gift. Got me an new ARB Elements 63 fridge, the slide for it, an ARB wiring harness and outlet, and the straps.

I started by running the wiring down the battery cables and into the frame. The kit came with 20ft if wire which is plenty enough to get it to the back. I ran it through the frame and brought it out in the rear near the bump stops. From there I routed it above the fender where I drilled a hole in the side of the bed. Fed it through the hole and wired up the outlet which consisted of two 90° plugs.

Next I mounted up the slide. I carefully measured to make sure the fridge not only clears the tailgate, but that the holes will clear any obstructions underneath the truck. Once I had it as far back as possible I marked the placement and drilled my holes.

the hardware I used was 4x 5/16”x1.5” stainless button head bolts and some large washers and stainless nylon threaded nuts. After drilling the holes I had my son hold the bolts from the top while I put the washers and nuts on the bottom.

Last step was just putting the fridge on the slide and attaching the straps and changing out the hardware on the fridge to the strap locks. After I placed the fridge I tested everything for function and stability. All works good so I fed the straps and tightened the fridge down. Then cut off the excess strap for appearance.

With this setup I am able to keep my rolling top shut and I can open the lid enough to fish out a drink or something fast if need be. The slide is smooth and rolls easily and is very stable even when fully extended.

I would say the Element 63 is a lot better than the ARB that I had to get rid of because it was too tall and wouldn’t clear the cover.

Time will tell if running on a single battery will give me any issues. I know in my Jeep I went several days without cranking and it didn’t effect the fridge or the battery.

@dixonk How has this setup worked over the past year? How does this fridge compare to the previous one you had?

just curious how it is holding up with our truck having super thin aluminum bed.
