I think that guy is probably the sellers boyfriend or something. I would not hand over any money without getting the keys immediately in return (face to face only). Make sure and do a carfax/forscan/what have you before you pay too. You don't know what shape that truck is really in.

I'm usually on Ebay buying Dan Wesson pistol stuff, and that's only a few hundred bucks here and there. Think I'd shit my pants if I was looking at a $50K deal on Ebay. Actually don't think I would do it. Too risky.

There are WAY TOO MANY Gen2's on dealer lots all over the nation to screw around with a shady deal on Ebay. My advice would be that if anything at all goes askew, no matter how minor, I would keep the money and report them to Ebay as scammers.

Yea I'd be leary as hell buying o truck on ebay. Especially for that price. But I mean how common is it to sell/buy a top line truck on ebay. Why not sell it in the open like 99% of the world?
See if they'll meet you at the cop shop to do the exchange and get all the paperwork notarized. If not then you've just gotten lucky. If so then maybe its legit.

So I got contacted from the “seller” again this am from some request I made originally for a video and a copy of the front and back of the title.

I can’t figure out how he got the video but the video is obviously edited to leave certain things out and at one point you can hear the camera man talking and it’s definitely not him. Only logically thing I can think of is the rightful owner is trying to sale the truck and the fake seller is requesting these things from pretending to be a buyer.

Will try to upload video shortly.

Pictures of the front and back of the title. As you can see it can not be of the same title due to the fold of the back do not match the front. For some reason he is altering the front and removing a section.

Yeah pretty shaky...I'd just tell him to **** off. Maybe stick with it if I thought I could get him in a bunch of legal trouble, but the thing is, they really don't prosecute property crimes any more, why would they go after an Ebay scammer?

Just read the thread
I definitely terminate this deal

FWIW, bought my raptor on eBay 4 years ago, placed deposit and picked up in person.
Smooth transaction

quick update:
real seller contacted me because scam seller sent my id to him using my info as the buyer... basically scam seller was saying he was a buyer (me) and getting info from real seller and passing that along to me. real seller searched me and found my contact # and gave me a call thinking i was the same person he has been sending pictures/videos to... real owner is a super nice person and we were both glad we figured out was going on before anyone lost money/car.

scam seller is still trying to have me transferred funds to multiple different bank acts since his sofa act got closed after i reached out to them.

also, found out the truck is listed on autotrader and thats where he got all this info. still kicking myself for not finding that ad.

figure some of you maybe interested and glad i didn't get to far with this transaction. the real owner was also asked to bring the car to the dealer to get inspected since i requested it and if it wasn't for the minor red flags i probably would have wired the $ if the dealer said the car was good to go...

Frankly, it amazes me that you spent as much time as you did even after it was obvious that something was amiss
