So looking to finally pull the trigger on a system upgrade and was hoping someone might have done something similar and can provide feedback on if it was worth it or if I should go another route. This is from MTI out of college station, I’m in Houston so was going to have them also do the install. A few questions as I’ve only really ever added subs to my vehicles, never swapped speakers.

1. Are kickers going to be an upgrade over the stock system? I’d assume so but honestly don’t know.

2. For this price ($4400 installed) should I spend a little more and do something different?

3. Anyone know if this sub is any good or should I upgrade to the JL option?

Thanks in advance.

Any aftermarket speaker will be an upgrade over stock. 4400 installed ain’t too shabby. The JL will probably sound a bit more clean and balanced than the kicker - but it depends on what you’re listening to and what your mod goals are .

Better than stock.... we all know how lackluster the factory system is, just have to be sure to upgrade it the right way.

We develop kits with the Kicker speakers, they are good, but just depends on the customer. They tend to be a little too efficient/aggressive/edgy at times for our older client base. For the younger crowd, those who want more volume, it's great.

Not a fan of them grounding on the rear wall in these trucks, we have stated for many years to run a dedicated ground to help stabilize the electronics and ensure the longevity of the products (customers' investment) is preserved. These trucks are glued together and the cab will show 5+ohms of resistance, aftermarket electronics will not tolerate that for long.

The minimal sound treatment in the quote leaves the door open for buzzes/rattles. If that does not bother you, then one roll is ok. We tend to go a little more in-depth and send 6 double sheets minimum with any plug-and-play kit.

Overall, it's a complete system and you have to decide if that is the level of performance you are looking for. If you are willing to explore additional options or possibly install it yourself, I know someone who offers a more composed package for your truck :)

Thanks for the introduction Sounds Good! All jokes aside anything is better than stock and I'm pretty sure either one of us can get you a better setup and/or one for less costs.
