anyone DIY / change their own oil with a pump / oil extractor?

I have a Griots Garage extractor I haev used for years on VW, AUdi/s and BMW's (until they got rid of the dipstick)

I tried to extract the Raptor oil today and was able to get about 2.5 quarts out ?

I've used those before with great success. Did you compare the dip stick to the tube you stuffed down the hole? I'd mark the dipstick, and then know you need to go down another 4-6" or so to hit bottom. Perhaps you didn't get it all the way down? There could also be something in the way there...maybe @FordTechOne knows if there are baffles or something inside the pan to keep oil from sloshing around. I'm grasping at straws...but that could be the issue.

If all of that is right, were you maybe really low on oil? On an incline? Did you confirm level before you changed it?

No I was on a level surface I check the gauges… Also I checked the oil level before starting it was maybe 1/4 quart low. Oil temperature was about 120 degrees maybe it was not hot enough?

it could be a baffle in the way I know on my previous Volkswagen GTI you had to push gently passed a baffle but I did not want to push too hard on anything here

I have an extractor from my audi and my 2 VW's. I tried to do my first raptor oil change with the extractor vis the dipstick, and no matter what i tried...could not get more then 4.5 quarts out of the pan.

I was fine with the 1st 3k mile change, but redid oil change at 5k miles and installed a fumoto valve.

Oil extractors don't work well on the Raptor, period. I have one too and that is always my preferred way, done it on lots of cars but on the Raptor, it doesn't work well. It can be done - but it takes a lot of fiddling and just not worth it. Get a fumoto valve.

It can be done with an oil extractor but you really have to play and twist at different depths to get all the oil. It's more or a PITA on the raptor for some reason than any other car i've ever done.
