Anybody run tire chains ?

There are always a few good snow days when the county doesn't get to plowing the road up to our riding area and chains are a must if you want to make it up the road.

I noticed the manual states no tire chains on the Raptor... My bad for not just looking, which I will do today but, who has run chains? I will have to buy a set for this truck and will go with lighter duty versions for fit and just the occasional need.

On my previous solid axle trucks I would run just fronts, on this truck I think all four might be a good idea given the additional joints in the front driveline.

Thoughts?

Not for my application. They would not last one trip up the dirt forest road pulling my sled trailer. I also seriously doubt they are better than the stock tires in 18"+ of new snow.

I see the problem... There is only about half and inch between the tire and the spindle/UCA. Guess I will be parking on the road those days...

On fresh snow, or packed snow. YES!
The next heavy snowfall around Denver, go up to Eisenhower Pass and you'll see them in action.
They are also approved by the western states that requires and enforce chain laws during the winter months for 18 wheeler.
BTW. .... For that amount of snow in the picture, you don't need chains.
You need a PLOW.

if you switch to aftermarket wheels like methods, it'll give the required clearance on the uca. stock wheels run pretty close to the suspension..

My application is dirt roads. On the plowed surface roads the KO2s perform just fine.

Nope, just a 4wd and a sled! Our access road is a couple of days down the list for the county. If you want the good powder days, you go up the unplowed road. Sometimes it works, sometimes, not so much...

I thought 4x4 and AWD vehicles are exempt. Every time I came up to a chain checkpoint they let me through without them.
