Any with a fridge mounted in the bed?

Hey guys,

Do any of you have fridges (ARB, Dometic, etc) mounted in the bed for Overlanding type trips? If so do you have a bed cover and what size is your fridge?

I'm looking to get one that will fit under a roll top tonneau cover, and mount between the wheel well and tailgate.

I have had a Dometic CF50 (just under 50L capacity) since about 2010. Works great and is very handy on road trips and camping trips. I would recommend putting it in the cab of the truck for a few reasons though:

• Keep the dust and water off/out of it
• It wont work as hard in the cab with AC
• You can access and pull drinks out of it without stopping if you have a copilot
• Less likely to be stolen

Thanks for the feedback. My goal is for an Overlanding set up so it would be locked in the bed under a hard rolling tonneau cover on a slide out mount. The reason I want it in the bed is for camping access as I'll also have a camp stove set up in the back as well and will be running a roof top tent on top of the bed. I don't have the truck yet so was trying to figure out what would be the ideal size to fit in there that wouldn't be too tall and hit the Tonneau.

I have both the Dometic CFX 75 and ARB 47L. Both fit under my roll cover. ARB is a little taller so a little tighter fit bit still great. I just used that one for two weeks. It was working harder under my cover and in 95+ heat but my battery lasted good on my road trip.

I haven’t come up with the greatest mounting solution yet but I have the builtright cages in the bed and ratchet strap it down to that, same with my extra battery. The only thing I don’t like about the Dometic is the location of the power cord. I had to get an extension cause the power was so short.

Both fit great. Hope this helps.

Yep...I’ve got an ARB Elements fridge in the back of my Raptor. It works with both a BakFlip and a Retrax Pro tonneau.

I put a dual battery system in, so I run the fridge from the aux battery.

Both of these sites are awesome. Too many a-holes on the Raptor sites.

I used a solid state battery isolator from Hell Roaring in Polson, MT. The owner/inventor is really helpful in walking you through. I’ve done this setup twice now. Once in a ‘93 F250 and another time in the ‘18 Raptor.

I’m old enough that I’ve learned to do things the right way the first time. This way will seem overkill to some.

If you want to go this route send me a PM and I’ll walk you through.

I’m using the national Luna power pack as my second battery. It’s not as ideal as I’d like but I wanted it so I could pull both the battery and fridge out of the truck and store in my tent if I wanted on a few days stay. Think the battery will run 3 days or so depending on the temp. I have a marine battery as big as I could fit. Think it’s a D31M optima.
