Any benefit to making the Gen 2 hood vents actually work?

not super sure on the hood vents, but since doing fenders, my fender vents are now functional. they make a tangible difference.

Not sure about the Gen 1 but this is fake info on the Gen 2s. The side vents on Gen 2s are already functional. Nothing worse than mis information

Having owned performance cars with functional vents it drives me f’ing crazy to know these are cosmetic only - what a joke. Reminds me of my ‘69 fastback hood.

It drives me crazy when people proliferate false information. The side vents are fully functional on the Gen 2 Raptors. The Hood vent is also functional even though only the first 2 louvers are slotted. It's designed to create a vacuum behind the hood and along the fenders to extract the heat while moving. Can't speak to the Gen 1s

I would bet the sweet carbon fiber wide body kit helped more then opening up the vents

Then you need a functional original 68.5 hood. I have one I'll sell you with a fresh zero option radio delete original 430 rear 4 speed car under it for only $82k. LOL

negatory. engine bay is actually sealed up tighter now. i made my own fender liners.

however, when it is so hot out that the spring clips holding your overflow bottle hoses lose tension , the hose comes off, coolant spews, and if said coolant runs out of your fender vents, they're actually really sucking hot air out of the engine bay.

I've had this same thought even though I live in the cooler N'west. I hate heat-soaking my equipment, when she goes in the garage, the hood goes up. Try to park facing the wind when outside. But...that hood vent seems to be a ******** to get off. Held on with both clips and double-sided tape from what I read in another thread (can't remember which). Not sure that juice is worth all the squeeze to get it done. Then I'd want to enlarge the openings in the hood sheet metal to boot. What I'd really like is some little fans on a timer on each fender vent. Wire into a upfitter switch and they'd run x 20 min once activated just to pull a little heat out of the engine bay say when I park in a garage/building w/no air flow.

Wow...this is a joke.....did not know it was that bad at all. Answers my question. no reason to expand on the vents in the hood, because the hood itself is barely vented.

They are functional according to Ford....& I tend to agree on the hesitation to making larger/more holes in hood easier for crud & water to get in.

One day at the Raptor Takeover @ Rausch Creek with my stock vent holes already has the entire engine bay covered in crap.
I'm sure opening them up won't make it any worse.
