Time for Ya'll to Pack up the Raptor wife, girlfriend (hopefully Not at the same time), Kids and the dogs and Hit The Trail to ANTELOPE CANYON.
Antelope Canyon is a destination worthy of anyone's Bucket List. An Incredible Slot Canyon on Navajo Land near Page Arizona.
It is known by the Navajo people as “The place where water runs through rocks.” and is Sacred to them, Please Respect it Accordingly.
The Canyon was thrust into Stardom as a Tourist Attraction/Destination when renowned Landscape Photographer Michael Fatali Captured his now famous "Light Beam" Shots. Those Images were published in a World Read Magazine (I can't recall which one) and Overnight Everyone in the World was trying to Capture their own images of The Beam of Light, myself included.
A tragedy in 1997 when a tour group of 11 people were tragically killed when a rain storm 15 miles from the Canyon became a Flash Flood, sweeping through the canyon killing all 11, 8 of which were tourists from France. Ever since that time you can only tour the Canyon with a Navajo Guide.
The Light Beam shot can Only Be Captured between March and April and only during a brief time period when the sun passes over the Canyon.
Insider Tip: If you book a tour of Antelope Canyon and want to Capture your Best Images, Book the Photographers Tour ( A little extra money well spent, Your Guide will "Briefly" hold up other groups so you can capture an image without a bunch of people ruining it) also bring a TRIPOD, the Lighting is EXTREMLY DIFFICULT and you can't Capture what your eye sees without a Tripod, Take 3 Images of everything you are trying to capture (The light setting you think you need and then another above and below that, ensuring you have an Image to work with when you get home.
If you enjoy your tour, Tip accordingly, why you ask? Tour a Reservation and you will never ask again...2014-01-19 ANTELOPE CANYON 002.JPG2014-01-19 ANTELOPE CANYON 003.JPG2014-01-19 ANTELOPE CANYON 004.JPG2014-01-19 ANTELOPE CANYON 005.JPG2014-01-19 ANTELOPE CANYON 008.JPG
