Research tells me that the Raptor is a great off-road truck, great in snow, on ice... besides being the best looking truck out there, IMO. However, what about the every day drive; the daily stuff... parking lots, parking garages, maneuvering in the city, etc. We tow a horse trailer (w/1-2) occasionally, commute from rural (unpaved, unplowed roads, etc), to city and highway driving. Thoughts? Been driving large SUV's for the last 35-40 years... still need the 4X4, but kids all grown and don't need all that seating. Thoughts? Advice?

I wouldn’t say its good on ice. Not sure what vehicle is without studded tires.

Raptor isn’t designed the best for towing but all the rest, yes. Driving in cities is all about you and your comfort level. I have no issues.

Look through the pics thread and see how many are clean as a whistle on pavement.

Its still a truck, its fine for daily.

Towing isn't great, other trucks tow better, but it does tow.

It does NOT like tongue weight when towing, and keep in mind the limit is 8k lbs and that's with a weight distributing hitch.

Ive towed with mine and its fine.

mine doesnt fit in most parking garages. I've had to back out of a drive thru before as well.

Note to taco bell: concrete pillars at the apex of a turn when leaving your drive thru is a terrible idea.

it will continue to get way worse now that it is 4" wider than it was.

At times, parking can be a little frustrating, since it seems parking spots aren’t wide enough to give me a feel good feeling that my truck won’t get dinged. So I just park far out and get a little extra exercise.

Everything else, seems fine to me. Proper weight distribution (hitch) will allow towing right up to the 8000 lb Mark, which is plenty for 90% of people that tow. I’ve personally hooked up a 27’ travel trailer to my previous Gen2, and it towed it very well! Sat level and perfectly with approx 650 lbs on the hitch, and 6000 lbs of weight

I've just turned 80K on my 2011 SCAB. In that time I've had my truck over Cinnamon Pass (12,000 feet in elevation) where I rescued a motorcyclist and his busted Honda, used my truck to move from Alabama to Nevada and towed all three sizes of U-Haul trailers, driven several winter's worth of snow, and so forth. My Raptor has always been my daily driver, and it is by far the most capable, best made, easiest to maintain truck or car I've ever owned. There is but a single drawback, and that's parking in parking garages. They aren't designed for vehicles as tall or wide as a Raptor, and I avoid them at all costs. That's a small price to pay to own such a capable vehicle.

All of the above pertains to a GEN1 Raptor. I can't vouch for GEN2 models.

Good information here. Getting ready to order a 19 and it will be my daily driver as well, i know parking could be a pain here and there but I'm fine with that and don't hit too many parking garages so the rest should be fine.

I haven't towed with my '18 SCREW. It's my DD, and it's great on the Houston freeways, very comfortable, very low cabin noise given the AT tires.

I did lightly scrape the front driver fender flare trying to squeeze in my garage once, and it buffed right out.

2 weekends ago I was involved in a minor fender bender around NRG stadium in stop and go traffic, when a Camry cut me off in my lane, and I didn't have time to react. Crazy thing is, even at around 5 mph when accident happened, my front passenger tire climbed a quarter way up the Camry's driver door with severe Camry door and side mirror damage. My passenger side fender flare and front quarter panel sustained minor scratches, and that's it.

Overall, I think the Raptor is very well built, so knock on wood....
