leaning toward the mbrp turndown. are there any advantages of the stainless steel version over the aluminized steel? is it just the appearance, or does the aluminized version tend to rust quicker or sound different? if its solely looks, id opt for the aluminized and save a few bucks, since ya cant really see it anyways, and im basically a tightass. or i was until i bought a raptor.

Yes, the aluminized will rust, eventually. If they are using a 300 series stainless (my guess is that they are - likely 304), then it will last the life of the truck.

thanks. thats what i needed to know. anybody know if theyll ever have a turndown that fits the scab without lopping off a foot of pipe?

I have the aluminized one, lots of surface rust after 6 months. The cutting of the pipe is no big deal just use a sawz all or cutting wheel

put my mbrp stainless turndown on last night. heres the obligatory pic that should eliminate the standard "pics or it didnt happen/****" posts.

gotta admit, its pretty loud. the first time i fired 'er up was a moment to remember. quiets down around town after ya get through the first 3 or 4 gears. gonna take some getting used to on the highway. a little drone pulling uphill at freeway speeds. its probably too much sound for a guy my age, but what the hell. ive never owned anything close to a performance vehicle so might as well act like a 20 year old. im probably more or less at that maturity level anyways. thanks to all the threads and posts that helped me make my decision. i think i read em all

Your description is perfect. when I fired mine up in the garage after install it definitely made me laugh. the neighbors weren't amused but I remember it well.

I use the remote start must of the time now just so I can hear the beast. :)

One tip that helps a little with the volume (in the cab at least) is turning the tip out towards the side of the truck on a 45. Seems to get a little less echo off the pavement???

i might try that. i aimed it a little that way based on the pics ive seen. maybe a little more will soothe the drone

I cant even imagine the big 6.2 with the MBRP. must be insane.

my little 4.0 six is loud.. 6.2 must be awesome.

and yes, turning the tip does help with in cab sound.
I like the sound, but at cruising speeds it was a touch to loud. so I turned mine a little bit. not all the way sideways, but in between. helped but it still has a nice growl in cab when accelerating that i like.

this is how mine is turned. ignore the mud lol
