How is the Dash going to be done?

I am going to have a company in Nashville that is an authorized Alpine dealer/installer, I may have to buy a new piece for the dash, they are checking into that for me, it will look stock when done

I would want to play with a working one first. My buddy got so pissed at his old alpine nav he literally ripped it out of the dash (was a motorized flip out model). I'm not so sure about that auto tune stuff too. Sounds gimmicky if you ask me. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what seats you have in the car!? Its what YOU the user want to hear.

Alpine has always been known for their hardware, not their software...

I played with the 2011 model, and it was fantastic
The new one will be 8 inches and better I know I will be happy with it

Info you might wanna know. I myself have been looking into Nav after the fact. The only people who make the dash piece to my knowledge is Metra. (6.2 Gave you the link). Personally I have been waiting for this company to respond to me that there 2012 catalog is now ready to purchase from.

They have awesome dash pieces for that Alpine unit and make the perfect fit and totally stock looking dash piece, just to my knowledge they are not ready to fill orders. If you find out any different please let me know. Good luck on the build, I hope this helps a bit.

Scosche also makes a dash kit for our trucks. It says for a 2009 XL but it is the right kit. I like it better because it does not have the black plastic ring that goes around the nav unit.

Alpine is making a "perfect Fit Kit" for the 2009 and up Ford F150, I am told that it will cost around $300.00 and this will be the only thing needed for my install, I may just do this myself. It may also let you keep the sync features, as it already allows On star to stay on the GM vehicles,

This will be one Awesome upgrade an 8 inch screen and possibly keep my Sync, I am most definitely doing this!

I have seen other installs that keep the sync. The sync does not need the head unit to work. If what you say comes to be I will go this route as well. I have had very good luck with alpine products. Or I may just install an iPad 3 :)

After putting an Alpine nav system in my m3, I'll never buy another and can't wait to replace it. The nav is clunky, the interface is bass ackwards and it's all a lot slower than comparable pioneer units. Don't do it.
