All turbo 2017 F150's to get start-stop standard, including Raptor

Not being too much of a Nancy here, but do you really think Ford is going to install all this start/stop fuel savings dial gadgetry for free? Is the government gonna give us a tax credit for buying it? All this fancy stop go shit isn't developed and installed for nothing. I'm all about installing energy efficient stuff in my home. Hell I just spent $40k + to update all the windows and doors in my house. You know why? Because it makes the house better. It will take me 30 yrs or more to break even on the expense though. I just don't think this particular new thingy is going to do that much for us in the Raptor world. I would bet half or more of the people, if given the ability, would just shut it off or disarm it anyway.

All of your points are valid and make sense. Personally I wouldnt mind start/stop for driving around town but on the trail I do not want it so it would be nice to have the option to turn it off or on easily.

The start/stop is already on most EB f150s so its not like its a brand new fancy gadget that just had millions dumped into R&D that needs to be paid for now. Does it bump the cost up a little? Of coarse it probably does and yes, its another thing to break but lets be realistic, the Raptor is a luxury offroad truck and thats part of the allure; all the creature comforts on the trail.

I understand you and a lot of people dont want to pay for gadgets and things they will not use or dont want to use but it comes with the truck so its one of those rock and a hard place things where you are forced into it if you want a Raptor. Too many options for this and that make prices go up because production time slows down for all the customization so they go with what they think the majority wants. This Forum pretty much represents a niche group of hardcore guys who want a no frills badass truck and sadly I do not think Ford is going to cater strictly to this small niche and instead go with what sells more trucks in the long run whether its good or bad for the offroad niche or not.

If people want a no frills offroad truck they might as well just buy a 1970s ford f150 and throw a bunch of money into it.

Shit I just saw a commercial for the new Denali truck with magnetic ride suspension, thats not a truck, thats a grocery getter with a bed and sadly thats where the truck market is going, luxury trucks as status symbols to go golfing and to company lunches with.

Personally I could care less if start/stop is on the truck but if it is I could see myself using it for most normal daily driving but it wont hurt my feelings any if its not on the truck at all especially if it lowers the price a bit.

Most batteries have a 3+ year warranty so they will be free if they need to be replaced but yes, it would be a pain in the ass.

Now that I think about it more how does start/stop affect the heater? If the motor is off coolant isnt circulating so wouldnt you get a cold heater fairly quickly if sitting in traffic? I live where it snows 8-9 months a year and regularly gets below zero and usually sits at 20 degrees F before windchill, I need my heater to be warm.

I'm telling you they're going sell this can of worms, and charge you $500 for a fancy ass plug-in to keep your battery charged. Or worse they'll add lithium batteries to them, and you won't be able to park at the Air Port parking garage, because it'll be in the same class with a hoverboard...

The majority of guys on this forum will run a tune and disable the start/stop function anyway so shut the hell up and stop crying like a baby!

Literally laughing my ass off at all the people acting like the truck is just going to shut off while you're out four wheeling or when you're running in the desert.

I have it on my 2.7 EB work truck that averages 20 mpg with about half city driving and think its great.

It disables itself in just about every situation except for the wheels pointed straight and no defrost/AC/Full heat going with the motor fully warmed up. Ford really thought these things out and aren't going to let the trucks damage themselves.

Yes we all saw that about all the possibilities when it would be disabled but I think the whole point of this is that it is being put on the Raptor. What used to be an extreme niche baja-ish off-road beast is now getting all the same stuff just like a regular F150.
