Cost and I think they can't be DOT certified do to a fire hazard. Magnesium burns incredibly hot and when water is used to put it out bad things happen.

They can be passed by DOT, but I’m not sure if any of the aftermarket manufacturers are willing to spend that.

The Porsche 918 with the Weissach Package is equipped with Magnesium wheels, so they must be passing DOT spec to be able to sell those vehicles for the street in the US. I know we’re talking about a $1MM+ Hyper car, but I figured it was worth noting.

Internal cracks can be an issue with mag wheels... at least that’s what I’ve heard from the guys at the race track... probably not ideal for off road purposes given the hits

Cost would be a little tough to swallow (not that 20" HRE's are much less). We sell the RSR980 wheels for about 9k a set for 19x9/19x12 Porsche fitments. It would be hard for any company to justify the tooling cost for something maybe a handful of people would buy. Weight is very impressive though. 19x9 = 17lbs

Speaking of HRE, @justin pacwheel, PM me the prices on the Tarmac HRE FF11 20x10 and 20x11, for 13' GT500, just curious on how much these run as I'm pondering a future swap out of the Forgestars

Any chance these will ever become available for our trucks?

Volk Racing TE37XT

Thank you!

I spoke to the local importer a while back and they said they would need approximately 25 sets paid for at roughly 7-800 per wheel and the load rating would only be 2150lb per wheel. They are only 19lbs per wheel but 2150lbs is kinda low.

If you like the look I have another company that offers a very similar design in cast with the same load rating. 17x8.5 +00 23lbs

For anyone interested the Venom Rex VR601's are in stock in the Patina Bronze finish. Normally a custom finish that costs extra but are ready to go at regular price while supplies last. It's less gold than the standard bronze
