Aftermarket mods, will I recoup dollars spent?

The listed cargo capacity of my truck is so low I am hesitant to bolt on extra pounds just to look cool. Now I know why John M takes his dogs instead of passengers. People weight too much.

Mods don't help your case. It does not change here. With that being said, who is spending 10-20 thousand on a raptor?

I'm new to the aftermarket truck mod game so go easy on me! I'm thinking through what aftermarket mods to do to my Gen 3, and as I calculate it, it's pretty easy to drop $10-$20k on non-mechanical things things like, ADD front and rear bumpers, Baja Design Lights, Xpel paint protection film, Intercooler and maybe a Warn winch...

The elephant in the room, will I recoup the money I spend on these quality aftermarket mods when I go to sell the truck in 5 years?

What has been your experience? Perhaps what are things worth while or things to avoid? Like, how bad is it to do a frame cut aftermarket bumper?

Think of it this way. An OEM wheel may cost $500 and an aftermarket may cost $600 so by putting wheels on it you are at least removing $100 in value. The appeal of aftermarket things is that it makes the vehicle unique and hopefully more appealing. I love when dealers charge $1000 for aftermarket wheels and then keep the OEM set to resell.

Motorcyclists do this all the time. I'm asking $45k for my 9 year old Harley because it has aftermarket pipes and these cast wheels! Well, good job you removed $2000 worth of OEM Harley parts and replaced them with $1000 of aftermarket crap.

You might be able to if you don't beat on it too hard and keep it clean. But if you payed any kind of ADM your already in the hole. And FYI ADD products might look nice but they are horrible in practicality and reliability, I speak from experience.

Not that way when your replacing bumpers, adding tonneau covers, lights, winches and other off road/ outlander stuff. Most wheels are cheaper than factory tho. U won’t get them replaced if not listed on your policy.

Part additions to a vehicle are much different than replacing OEM with Aftermarket. Adding things of course should be valued higher, but replacing anything OEM with a cheaper aftermarket will "almost" always devalue it somehow.

Why would you want the insurance company to buy your cheaper aftermarket wheels, have them bid OEM then buy aftermarket and pocket the difference. If you "claim" a cheaper aftermarket wheel on your policy do you think they are going to lower your monthly bill?

I never even did 20k in mods to my V10R8...

Its easy to do it to an Aventador or a F12 or AMG GTR... not a Raptor.

Yes, it only costs a few bucks a month to ensure aftermarket equipment. Your normal policy will only pay for factory. 20k in mods is probably 150 bucks a year to insure. Cheap.
