I gained 7rwhp and 19rwtq. It's not much but I will say the exhaust is a LOT more tolerable on the inside and I can her the blower a lot more

Probably close to the margin of error in the testing but the key is as long as you're happy with what you've done (and you are) then that's what matters.

As for a Raptor, my take is this, I think you loose a certain amount of reliability in a vehicle when you start hotroding it out. So I think I'll leave the Raptor stock as much as possible.

Good choice!

I will chime in on exhaust, granted from the point of view of a different vehicle. The aftermarket did quite a bit of work on the exhaust system of the G8. It has very restrictive cats (exhaust flow makes a 90 deg turn in the cat) and 5 (!!) mufflers (two resonators, one 2-in 2-out and two axle back mufflers). The aftermarket stuff from Kooks and American Racing Headers added long tube headers, a smooth transition to the cat and removed the resonators and 2-in 2-out. At this point, you had two options keep the factory axle-backs or go aftermarket. The difference on the dyno between the stock and aftermarket was 2hp. 2hp!! Plus, due to the AFM (active fuel management - runs on 4 cyls) drone with anything but the stock axle backs was annoying (a couple of folks, after working on it a while, have come up with something to reduce the drone).

Anyway, all of that boils down to this. A cat-back will *usually* get you better sound, a negligible gain in power (unless you have an unusually restrictive exhaust) and drone issues at cruising speed.

You can just do what I did in that situation...

You are probably right about the HP but 19 lbs feet is a fair amount...

Thing is with those pickups it must have all been down low (where you need it), where you would not expect gains from these mods...

Do you guys remember that Exhaust cutout on the 'z'? The guy rigged a rocker switch on the front of his aux switch panel... and the cut-out was electrically controlled. What do you people who actually KNOW about motors think of this? To me, it seems like the perfect compromise... you can get the sound when you want it... to a variable level since you can stop the valve anywhere along it's travel. As far as power, I think the 411/435 combo will give me all I need. The sound with a 5.4 was awesome... it would HAVE to be better with a 6.2 and that 102mm bore. What, if any... are the possible damage issues with this system?

Here is the youtube... listen to the slingshot off the light at 1:25. And the flyby at the end is boss too.

If it placed downstream (or behind) the cat, I can see no ill effects to the engine. I agree, nice compromise for little $$$ to get a little extra sound. (and only when you want it!)

I installed an aftermarket exhaust and my own custom fabricated CAI..still with stock housing and a K&N drop in air filter..

i change back to stock configuration anytime i get my free oil changes or bring it in for some warranty work. i currently have 31K miles on my truck..without it..my mileage does suffer..with it, i get better fuel economy.

total it cost me 90 bucks to do..but i do not see myself spending 400 dollars on one, insane. but for 90 to 100..hell yea! the stock air filter restricts enough to hinder my mileage, and thats enough for me to go back to my CAI setup.

However, i noticed no gain at all with my exhaust...i installed a super 44...my own personal unbiased experience.
