I'd love to share my video I made for Ford. This went through an exective, a chassis engineer and a FSE before they finally sent the oil change tech to my house to hear it while I drive him. 85 miles they had it, no noise. 2 minutes with me and the kid goes, "yep I hear it."

that was November 23rd. Im still waiting for the last backordered shock.

SMH

Oh man, that’s crazy; I’m sorry to hear you had to deal with so many people in order for them to confirm that... I can hear it clearly in the video (maybe because the sound is already familiar to me).

I haven’t really tested the front ones, but the back ones are for sure an issue. When I drive with the windows down (especially the center rear window open), I can clearly hear the thumping/clunking coming from the rear shocks. I saw some people in this forum recorded themselves jumping on the bed to capture the noise; I tested that as well, and I can replicate that same noise.

I’m hoping whenever I take it to the dealership they let me show them exactly what I mean, and that they can confirm and request the parts. Also planning on showing them the SSM 50972 so that they don’t play the "it’s normal" card.

Out of curiosity, is the backordered shock you’re waiting on for the front or the rear?

I had my shocks redone and it took 2 1/2 weeks to get the shocks in and the part installed.
I scheduled an appointment for middle of February at a different dealership to see what can be done. Saw mostly good reviews from the service advisor I booked it with, so I’m hoping they can help out and that it takes that amount of time (or hopefully less) to fix.

I don’t want to drag the issue too long and then spend part of this year suffering it. Rather let the truck sit for as long as it takes now and get it solved.

I feel like giving them the SSM made them less receptive, at least in my case. It’s like they don’t want people self diagnosing and coming in like they know more than them. Sometimes we do but you’re fighting with personalities that are in charge of approving repairs on your vehicle. I’d suggest just telling them your concern and then maybe show them the video saying “it sounds like this”.

I believe the shock is the right rear. Tasca confirmed what my dealer said (not a great relationship) that they’re backorder no eta.

Interesting; good to know! I’ll try to save the “I’ve done my own research” attitude and just show them the sounds like I don’t know any better. I’ll be nice about it because at the end of the day, I just want it fixed, I don’t want to bash on Ford. All vehicles have issues. But if they try to tell me it’s normal, I’ll play the SSM card.

As for your shocks, I wonder if it makes a difference that yours is a 37 pkg whereas mine is a 35… I believe the shocks are slightly different?

I’ll try to post my updates here after I go to the dealer for my appointment. Hopefully I come back with good news!

Thanks again for your video and your input; it’s very helpful and much appreciated!

They are different, so you might be ok on the inventory. I can only speak to the 37PP shocks. Hopefully your dealer likes you more than mine likes me and it will be no big deal lol.

Mine 21 road way better after both shocks were changed.
Glad to hear it! I’m hoping they get to replace mine and I get the same results; right now it’s not so bad when riding on good roads, but the moment I go over a speed bump, or go through potholes or even parking lots, you can definitely hear it and it sounds like a rental Altima does after many miles of service lol
