alright, so let me ask this. I'm guessing that pretty much any decent brand name aftermarket bumper should absorb damage better than the stock bumper, right? ADD, Lex, Roadarmor, etc...?
I would imagine that the heavier bumpers would be even better the ADD bumpers, and the ADD and other prerunner style bumpers would be better than stock?
Any of the aftermarket bumpers will protect better than the stock ones, generally improving approach angle as well. We use at the minimum a .120 wall tubing but we have built bumpers with heavier wall tubing at the customers request, but of course that does add some weight.
the biggest thing is that you get something you are happy with from initial phone call to bumper delivery and install.
Remember bumpers are designed to fold at low speed collisions. If ther were Rick solid all that energy would be transferred directly to the frame and cause more servers and expensive damage
I added my ADD Race Series R front bumper about 8 months ago and was immediately impressed with the quality of the construction. I'm sure there are other bumpers that are durable but the Race series R has been more than sufficient for me.
If you are specifically worried about collisions I would definitely recommend ADD: In the last 8 months I have hit 3 deer (I swear they are after me!) and still have no signs of damage to the bumper. Fortunately none of these incidents have been on the highway. Collisions with deer are VERY common where I live and all three have been in the 25-45mph range without an issue.
The last one I even had my lightbar mounted and it held up like a champ...
