Oh man I feel ya on this! I have a ADD Bomber bumper. It drives me nuts that I can't remove the plate! It makes changing the oil filter a pain. I'm thinking about having a shop weld nuts on the backside.
So how do you get to the oil filter? There is no way to do it from the top side. I tried yesterday. Too many hoses in the way.

How do you get to the oil filter?
There is one route down from the top. Kind of left of the air box towards the front. I use a small ladder or step stool so you are high enough up to bend over and get your arm down in there. You pretty much have to do it all by feel. I use a Motivx filter wrench to crack it loose. Then spin it off by hand. Do my best not to drop it. Then pull it back up through that hole at the top. I put the new filter on by hand. I've gotten quick at it now. It usually takes me longer to get under the truck and remove my other skid plates to drain the oil than it does to replace the filter. I also use some oil absorbent pads. I put a couple of those under the filter, on top of the plastic drip tray for the filter. Found that works to soak up what leaks when you take the filter off.
