So, I might have had a little accident today and am now in the market for a new front bumper. I really like the looks of the ADD bumpers but I am curious as to how they hold up in areas where it snows a bit and as a result the roads are covered with salt and sand. My concern is not directly related to ADD, but any aftermarket bumpers.

Can anyone who lives in the northern part of the US comment on their experience with their ADD bumpers? The main issue that I am concerned with is buying a $2k bumper to have it start rusting within a year. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. If my concerns are unfounded or inappropriate, please forgive me as I have not contacted ADD directly. I wanted to get some member feedback before proceeding with choosing a bumper.

Thanks!

if u are concerned about this (which u should be as its a bit rougher out our way than it is out there) then an option is to have them send u one raw and have a quality local company coat it. I just bought a Saints Offroad bumper and am having it locally coated. their process sounded good but I wanted a custom color that they didn't do and they guy local to me is very good so it gives me some piece of mind.

I will be sending u a PM shortly

your welcome. just be sure who ever u use blast it and acid washes it. lots of places just do the acid wash as a quick prep and think its ok. that don't fly for us in the northeast. we need full prep here

I have an RPG raceline bumper and I bought it "raw" and used a local company to powder coat mine. They did the sandblast and acid wash AND applied a powder coat primer then the color coat. I live in Tulsa, OK and our winters are not as severe as yours, the DOT does use salt. My bumper shows no sign of corrosion.

I'm sure line x would hold up well too plus the lifetime warranty will cover you if it ever decides to fade or chip, just an idea...

Ive had plenty of custom bumpers on past trucks and jeeps. Just know from the get go that if you don't want to ever see rust, you'll have to pop the bumper off every 2-3 years and drop it off with whoever did the coating to have it blasted and re coated. Id do powder coating ANY day over linex on a bumper. You can touch the powder coating up with a little rattle can if you get a big scrap it in and get you up to your next spraying. That being said... it usually cost me $250 whenever I dropped a bumper off to get blasted and re coated. Usually a 3-4 day turn around. Just depends.
