Just did this to my 2020 Perf Blue SCREW that was only 3 weeks old, so the paint was in excellent condition. Referencing the products I used, but there are obviously many similar products from other manufacturers.
1. Pressure washer rinse
2. Adams Strip Wash
3. Adams Iron Remover (there was surprisingly a lot of iron on the hood)
4. Adams Ultra Foam Shampoo wash (used foam cannon - kids love using it!)
5. Tires & Wheels (Griots rubber cleaner & wheel cleaner)
6. Clay Bar
7. Tape off any black plastic prior to polishing
8. Adams Polish with yellow Rupes pad
9. Adams surface prep
10. Adams ceramic coating
11. Leave in garage for 24 hr before driving
My first time using a ceramic coating, and to be honest it was a bit frustrating. I've been a car detailing fanatic for 20+ years and pretty much tried every type of product out there. Perhaps it was the blacklight that left me frustrated as you can see where you missed, or left streaks. Maybe if I had something similar with Menzerna's FMJ back in the day I'd have seen the same. Nonetheless, don't let this deter you from doing it yourself.
Initially I was making long passes across the width of a panel, separating my "quadrants" by the natural contours of the panel. For example, if standing at the front wheel and starting on the hood from the side I would go from the windshield to the headlight. First horizontally, then vertically in the recommended cross-hatch pattern. Shine the light and it revealed a streaked pattern.
I found that, using the above as an example, breaking that section into 3 sections and reapplying the product to the applicator each time, I got a far more consistent application of the product.
