Actually Pulling Someone Out of Sand

I find that also the driving style is important...

1. Never stop in sloppy sand
2. When turning in sand be deliberate and get back to straight and narrow driving as quick as you can
3. Dry sucks more than wet lol

That’s because you’re at 25 psi. I don’t think twice about stopping in deep sand if I need to, I’m floating on top of it.

i have always had good luck around 18-20 psi. lower than that with my type of driving and will lose a bead. i usually drop down to 8 if i feel like im getting stuck, but will air back up a little once im unstuck. too easy to lose a bead when you are out sliding around in the sand. you can stop in deep sand, but the biggest one is dont stop uphill. thats how you can get buried. if you do stop uphill, make sure you can back down, if forward progress results in tire spin. most of the times i got stuck was when i was new to the truck and came to the top of a dune and stopped. then when i tried to go down it, i high centered because of tire spin. since the rear of the truck is so light, the rear tires will spin easily which will dig a hole pretty quick and the front cant get enough traction to pull you out.

Very interesting ... I mean, thank god I have not needed to go up hill at all. Soon as I hit the crushed oyster area and then hard sand.. its 25mph the entire way.

Yes some big differences between dunes and beach, there a few ramps in Carova beach but nothing like Pismo

Very well...

When are you hitting KURE again? Where do you run at?
Mostly NJ and some northern OBX, mostly when people who visit want to see the stupid horses. Admittedly I often only air down to 25 if I am not going in the back and have to go up a dune…but that allows me to do 40-50 mph or so on the way back in the off-season

Just drive easy at 15psi and you will see how you float on that sand. Summer traffic, kids, drunks, dogs, stupid tourists, how fast can you safely go in the beach anyway.
