@BenBB, what is the object to the right of your braided trans dipstick line on the right edge of your photo? I'm under my truck and can't see the drain stub on the firewall.

In the first pic, not sure I think it's a zip tie. The second picture hopefully shows you the location better, the frame rail is along the bottom. Actually you will probably have better luck reaching up there and feeling for it, just aft of the cylinder head, because there is a cutout for it on the firewall insulation and you likely can't really see it at all...

How in the world did you manage to get that elbow on there? I think I can see it just behind a bundle of wiring wrapped in silver insulation, but I can't get my hand on it.

You know, the failure to provide a 50 cent plastic elbow is no different than Ford's premier off-road flagship not having a transmission dipstick. Just mindboggling inexcusable.

@Ruger there is some contortion involved haha! Press fit, grunting and cursing the whole time, I don't think I could reach it at all from above.

I agree on both counts but...the sum is greater than the parts haha! I wouldn't have anything else.

Yes, certainly my Raptor is the finest vehicle I've ever owned or ever expect to own. (This from an owner whose transfer case got stuck in 4HI and had to be replaced at considerable cost.) But ****, a plastic elbow?

And I absolutely believe your description of getting an elbow on that stub. I've bumped my head and used several words not spoken in polite circles, and that was just in trying to find the stub! I think I'm going to have to jack up the front right side of the truck and remove the front passenger side tire to get a hand on that thing.

Hey, if that stub is threaded for 3/4" FPT (same as female NPT), then Ford meant for something to be threaded onto it and evidently overlooked putting it on in the assembly process for tens of thousands of vehicles!

No it's not threaded, just a smooth plastic pipe sticking out (part of the bottom plastic casting for the heater box I think). Pretty sure when I looked into it a couple years ago there's a rubber more or less street ell with a hose clamp they use on some models. But with the head being so close to the firewall there they either 1) didn't think it would be an issue, or 2) couldn't reach the damn thing on the assembly line either haha!
