So you have a new engine? Or you are getting a new engine? What part are you waiting for?

Ford ok’d a new engine. But they didn’t send a long block. Apparently we’ve been waiting on the cam followers according to the dealer.

What did they replace the “engine” with? Long block would have come with lifter/rocker assembles as a service long block assembly. Or short block where heads transfer over.

The good news is I am pretty certain ford updated lifters and that’s why your waiting. I have a some good info from buying bulk parts from my distributor and they were on back order due to a change for a while. 75 come in tomorrow.

They sent a short block at first. Upon tear down they found more damage and ford sent the rest of the parts vs an entire assembly. That’s pretty much all I was told. I can try and get more information if you’d like and if it’d help your research.

Also.. what would you do.. go for the buyback/exchange or wait and get these updated parts on my current truck? Truck is a 17’ with 19k miles at time of service.

Would depend on what I had done to the truck. I swap motors like they are going out of style so new engine would be fine if you have other work done to the truck.

Too bad if we had motor failures, we couldnt just send all our trucks to you Ryan to do the work to R&R it and be paid by Ford and to fix their own deficiencies they refuse to update. I would be down to do that and have someone skilled to do the work. I mean hell, trucks sit at dealerships long enough already. What's shipping to RMB to do it right??

Another reason combustion engines will die out. Ford gets complacent and customers just deals with it. Tesla can just push a software update to fix and enhance most things.

I was told on the later models 18 and 19 the fix is an adjustment to computer. For whatever reason the 17 model this update isnt available. Im glad its not the timing chain and can live with the chatter. Its documented so if it craps out its on file.

There is no fix from Ford. 18 and 19 still have the same parts as 17. They will chatter and come apart. The timing chain was never an issue.
