most of my frustration is due to the fact that i still love the truck - i think it's the best production truck out there, hands down. It's just a shame that this yoke problem is really a huge blemish on the vehicle and on ford itself. I've been waiting years to buy a ford truck and there's no other vehicle i want right now, i just wish they'd fix the ******* thing!

My "clunk" has returned...

So, I bought the truck and it had a slight clunk for about 3,000 miles. After that, it more or less disappeared. Never heard from it again.

...now, after an afternoon of washboard roads, some spinning in the sand with axle hop and some full-throttle acceleration runs down red clay roads -- "the clunk" is back; and it's BAD.

It actually "clunks" during gear changes, now.

Never heard it this bad before. Any ideas why mine would have gone away to near silent to rearing it's ugly head yet again in a hardcore fashion?

Clunk = :supergay:

Clean the driveshaft flanges, clean the rear springs. This is what the local Ford dealer tried to claim was causing my clunk.

I'm planning on taking it to the dealer for fun, just to see what they say. I've never heard it like this before and doing it while shifting gears, too?

I love this truck, but seriously. This is dumb.

I agree. I am trying out our SVTOA Sponsor dealer next. Spent a half hour Saturday talking to the owner of the place.

Sadly, my clunk has returned after a day of hard off-roading. Now it even clunks changing gears!

Damn SWOOP1156...that's not good at all, definitely have dealer check it out.

My "clunk started around 1800miles and stopped at around 3500miles, and I haven't heard it since. Got 5400+miles on it now and I Hope it doesn't come back with a vengeance as you've said yours did.

Just an FYI..... there IS a replacement driveshaft out there Ford is shipping... Reportedly the original Yoke was a bit too wide, and had enough slop in it to make it bind.

The new driveshaft (not sure whether or not its just a new Yoke thats pressed to the same ole driveshaft), supposedly solves the Clunk.

The suffix on the original driveshaft PN ends in BA or BB... new one ends in BC. I saw these on another forum, thought I would share the wealth. :)

This is the new "BC" driveshaft... note the sticker that was covered up was BB

Well, this supports what JP7 and I were told by some guys we met who had theirs fixed at the Vegas dealer. Although they told us that they only replaced the yoke.
Now all we have to do is get the dealers to research this and actually do the replacement.

Word! I hate it that mine came back. I wonder if my truck has other magical powers?
