The Ford Raptor is designed as a Performance Vehicle. If you can't afford to put the right fuel in it, then you may have bitten off more than you can chew.

Its not so much that people can’t afford it, I think some are just too cheap. Lol

These 93 octane threads have made me laugh for 3 years.

I’m still convinced that 9/10 drivers couldn’t tell a diff with 87 or 93. I’ve had my wife fill my truck with either 87 or 93 and then I try to guess what she put in. Have done several times and I get it right 50% of the time!

placebo effect. Google it.

Your success rate of guessing a 50/50 proposition is irrelevant. Empirically, the HP and TQ numbers that Ford posits for the Raptor is achieved on premium fuel not regular. In other words, if you run regular fuel rather than premium, your HP and TQ numbers won’t be 450 HP and 510 TQ. That demonstrates that a Raptor’s performance does indeed depend on the grade of gas that is in it.

Yea, no placebo effect. Just Google it :)

yes, no doubt it’s performance is slightly increased

just saying that you can’t tell the difference unless you have a bias by knowing what you filled the tank with

bias. Google it.

33 gal. of 91, 3 gal. of e85. Woohoo... Runs way too thin for an everyday thing, but every once in a while... Love it!

If your opinion is simply because you are looking for performance differences because of the fuel... sure, bias or placebo, or whatever term you want to fill in the blank with. However, one cannot argue that higher octane fuel isn't better for the vehicles longevity. Definitely worth the extra money each year, at least In my bias and placebo effected opinion.

Now your argument makes sense.

I’m just laughing at the guys who say that as soon as they fill up with 93 it’s “like a whole different truck”.

I would like to believe there is a difference in performance, and many graphs say there is. However, this elusive and tremendous change to the seat-of-your-pants feel people are selling when going from 87 to 93, meh... probably not! Lastly, I think we can also all agree that we are biased when it comes to the trucks we choose to buy, i.e RAPTOR, so why not the fuel we choose to fill them up with. I would use 93 if I could find it. I am in good ol' CA though... Therefore 3 gal. of E85 in a tank full of 91, does feel different. I dare you to try it... Hah! Take care my friend and enjoy your truck.
