I have a 2010 5.4 Raptor, I have always doen my own service and oil changes. To bring the Motor up to full on the dip stick I have always had to add 6 and approx 3/4 qts never a full 7. I have gotten tired of tweaking the last quart to get it right on the full mark and wonder what you guys think about just adding a full 7 quarts and saying it's good. What do you think?

Eh, it wont be a big deal. that little bit will not cause any splashing where you get it foaming. I dont add all 7qts I just add 6.5 start it check it and add till its where I want it on the stick...

I just did an oil change tonight.

Put 6 in. Start up the truck and let in run for a minute (to get the oil into the pump/filter). Let truck rest so oil can settle into pan. measure oil. I can usually get a full 7 in if I do this process (let truck run to let oil circulate to new filter, etc).

But, what do I know... :patriot:

You should check the oil level before you start it up next time. I know it may not be an accurate reading buy it is important that there is a sufficient amount of oil in there. Just a little safety precaution. If you add some into the filter before installing it, it'll make the reading just a tad more accurate as well

I just put 6-6.5 quarts in. The drain plug is in and tight. I know there is enough oil in the engine to have it run for a minute to circulate the oil so I can top it off. Also, putting oil in an oil filter that installs horizontally is messy. I appreciate the tips, but I've been changing the oil in my cars for almost as long as you have been alive. Hate to start a pissing match, but damn dude you just found your oil pan drain plug a few months ago with the help of FRF members. How many oil changes have you done since then? Haven't you sold your raptor by now anyway?

lol... I never measure... In all my vehicles I drain it for a while, make sure I get out all I can, fill the filter, put the rest (whatever the specs in the manual are) in it and go.

Never had an issue. I'll check it every few thousand miles, but change it all at 10k anyway, so not much chance of losing a lot of oil.
