I just got done chatting online with SDHQ, they told me the AFE CAI will not require a tune.

Hummm I am not sure, but all CAI I purchased ultimately always had a tune associated with them. If you are allowing more air into the motor, it will change the manner in which it burns/uses fuel, thus requires some sort of tweeking.... maybe I am old school or missed something? Gaining that much HP and no tune???

Good point,:idk: hopefully somebody can explain this "no tune required" for the CAI.
I was just passing on the info that I was told, so don't shoot the messenger.;)

Yes sir, but I typically don't hear about needing a tune while installing a CAI. My ole Harley ran rich from the factory and you could installed a Lightning upper pulley (2lbs) without a tune.

Old school speed density systems have computer controlled fuel injection - but they have a pre programmed MAP built in that does not change. But adding more air and better flowing exhaust will help.

Later model Mass Air Flow systems have many more inputs for the computer that change and compensate accordingly. These newer computers have MAP programs that "learn" the vehicle and adjust accordingly. Including more air, different fuel better exhaust etc.
