I’ve come across a couple high mileage 2010s with the 5.4. I’m ok with a 5.4, but if one goes in a big way, are there crate motors or long blocks available? Or is it a find one in a junkyard and get it rebuilt thing?

I have had multiple 5.4s in Expeditions.
2v and 3v both.
Mine have all been VERY reliable.

Although I've only owned 6.2's, I think Ford switched to the 6.2 for a reason, mo power is mo betta! You can also tune the 6.2 for fuel economy if you wish, so there's not drawback.

That being said, the 6.2 is still in use in trucks and vans. I just bought a 2014 and the p/o had a local Ford dealer replace his 6.2 long block and it came with a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. Price was a little over $9,000, which I thought was fair. P/o said amazingly the 3 years after the engine install it ran great and never needed problems fixed, so kudos to having a Ford certified mechanic do it.

Would I like more power from my 5.4? Sure. We all want more power. But I don't want to sacrifice power for reliability
