I’m in the market for a front bumper setup and im wondering if anyone knows the benefits of having a light bar vs pod lighting or vice versa?

Im sticking with Baja designs since the majority of my lights are through them. As it stands it’s the Onx6 40” dual control light bar or the XL linkable kit. Obviously the lightbar offers way more output but I like the looks of the pod lighting. I’ve also heard that the coating on the housings on the linkable lights doesnt last. So, does anyone have any advice on which to choose, besides the obvious light output benefits?

here, on frf
pods are configurable and individually adjustable. just get more pods to get the same output and then aim them how you want and relays..... lots of relays.

Yeah, I’ve already got multiple relays now and my engine bay doesn’t like the crowding. Even if I did the linkable kit Id probably have them on one switch with a relay since it’s either all light or no light where I live.

I have the Baja Design linkable bar on my bumper, I prefer its looks, but pods can’t be pointed in whatever direction you choose.

Torn on the exact same thing myself. Either going with a 40" light bar or 4x BD LP6's.

I’ve heard some folks being not too happy with the light output on the XL linkable. I mean looking at the lumen you can get a couple squadron pros that are higher output than the entire linkable lights but I’m wonder if it’s really that noticeable. Thoughts with your setup?

I actually asked Baja Designs if they’d be willing to do a linkable kit with the XL80s and they would do it but being a custom kit it would cost quite a bit and is usually only something they’d do for trophy trucks. That said I wish they made linkable setup with a bit more power..

That's disappointing. I would do the XL80s linkable kit. Or.... 4 LP9s, XL80s and 30" bar...

The XL80s are a bit spendy, can you imagine the cost of a linkable XL80 x 6 kit cost? A pair is about 750 - 800 so ... 2500-2600 bucks?

Some of us would pay that but that price would definitely turn off a lot of us.
