Looking for Pics of what people have done regarding moving away from the factory front 2 way configuration to a 3 way configuration for the front doors / front pillars.

you want to put the tweeters and mids in the corner of the windshield facing toward you, however sometimes its not possible. the higher up the mid and tweeter are the better.

Many ways to go with a 3-way and placement of speakers can depend on the type of sound you are looking for. In all cases, tuning, fabrication, gear, etc you will need quite a bit and have in the right hands to pull everything together. Here is a entire build video for you to enjoy :)

In maintaining the original appearance of the truck (non-modded a pillars), have y’all done a 3 way setup using the dash L/R mid range speaker locations? What size are those mids and what brand has mids that’ll fit the dash location.

That is pushing it! I believe your maximum depth is 3.25 inches without modifications. You would need to measure to be sure and you can double stack our adapters if you need more depth, but I would dig into it a little more before you commit.

At the current time, nothing really fits in the factory corner locations besides the Kicker 2.75-inch driver. None of the conventional 3-inch mid-ranges will fit due to depth. Around Feb of next year, we will have a kit that will work in the factory mid-range location, but tweeter will not. This kit will be around $6k.

For us, we are so comfortable tuning our a-pillars (we tune 10 a month on average in these trucks), that we will have to take a hit on performance to catch back up on that location.
But its something we are actively looking for good solutions and right now, only very limited choices.

Will this kit in question use these Kicker 2.75” drivers in the dash L/R locations? In your professional opinion…with these Kicker 2.75 drivers in the dash, would they pair well w/ some Flax Evo components up front if running an active setup? Or, are they not needed? I ask because if the soundstage is already there speaker wise, why not maximize it.

Complete the following…you have a VXI8 running an active setup, which speakers do you run to this DSP?

I doubt that would pair well, if I had to retain that location, I would utilize the factory driver with the DSP and see how you could narrow its bandwidth to see how it pairs with the 2-way. Worse case, you delete that location and dedicate that power to the mid-bass location.

If I had a VXI8, I would run the 3-way speakers, a-pillars, and bridge the 5-8 to the front mid-bass location. This would balance out the system and ensure I have a very musical sub-stage to blend with the front stage.

Which speakers, well I would suggest what I run in my cars, Utopia M :)
