2022 Tundra stole some lighting cues from the Raptor!

Absolutely pathetic that they are now copying the Raptor’s grille to try and capture sales. Almost as pathetic as the “1794” edition that was a cheap ripoff of the King Ranch. Toyota will stop at nothing to steal market share regardless of how inferior their product is. Not sure why anyone would support that or want it to be a success, it’s a complete ripoff of American trucks.

Toyota “reliability” is also a complete farce. I’ve repaired just as many head gaskets, wheel bearings, suspension components, transmissions, axles, etc on Toyotas as any other vehicle; they aren’t superior in any way. Never mind the rust issues. The only reason they tend to score well is that they use antiquated components, so they work out the bugs and then use the same design for 15 to 20 years. Which is why a 2020 4Runner uses a 20 year old 4.0 V6 and 5 speed automatic that gets worse fuel economy that a full size pickup.

The Japanese are carpet baggers, plain and simple. Full size pickups do not exist in Japan; they have zero experience, so they rely on copying others and while promoting their “assembled in USA” propaganda. The reality is that they pay low non-Union wages in their US plants while hauling tens of billions of dollars out of this country every year. No red blooded American should support that, it’s disgusting.

I came to my Raptor from a V8 4Runner, and my wife's DD is a Lexus GX470. I'm all about Toyotas, but they haven't been exciting in power or technology for many years. Hoping the new Tundra can turn that around. If Toyota made a 450+hp Tundra with a Lexus grade interior and tech package, they couldn't take my money fast enough.

Why would you trade a Raptor for a Tundra with the same power output? “Lexus grade interior” just means a ton of fake wood and a slow touchpad controlled infotainment system. Probably have a cassette player as well to really top of that “luxury” experience.

Tell us how you really feel? haha. Seriously, I don't really disagree with anything you said besides a few of the old guard Toyotas that really are built like a damn tank (my LX570). But, the technology is old school for sure.

That said, the new Tundra would have to completely blow the competition out of the water before I'd consider one. Plus, I've never had a good experience at a Toyota dealer (Gulf states). It's like they are used to treating all of their customers like they're dumb (4 square games, losing paperwork, etc.). I couldn't handle it and haven't been back. Lexus dealers are good here in DFW besides their service departments that scam hard on "recommended services" that are completely unnecessary. I hard pass that all the time and just do oil changes.

Good point, Toyota has proven to us they are pushing the envelope with vehicles in other segments, go ahead and name one with the exception of the LFA, that is actually innovative.

Ha, I'm not looking for an argument here. I'm hopeful the 2022 Tundra will be better than the previous gen. If it's not, it's not. It may fall flat. I have no idea.

I'm not tribal for Ford, Chevy, Toyota...anybody. I like cool trucks. Cool trucks that last a long time are even better.

I wouldn't necessarily trade my Raptor for a Tundra. It would depend on all the factors involved. "They couldn't take my money fast enough" was primarily speaking from when I was shopping for a full size truck and ended up going with the Raptor. I like my Raptor a lot. It would take an exceptional truck to get me out of it.

Man, I get it. You hate Toyota. I do not. That's fine. You guys argue about this like it's religion. I do not take a religious stance on it.

Their service manager is super smart and fair as well. That alone makes me want to buy Lexus. So far Ford service has been fine, but obviously no free loaners for usual maintenance. They have set me up with a loaner for warranty work the one time I had some done. The wife will be giving up the Lexus service when her Bronco comes in.

Same here. I had two Lexus SUVs before I got my first p/u, a 1794 Tundra, and then my Raptor. Where I am in Charleston, SC, the Lexus dealer is hands-down the best to deal with from a service perspective. It is a decent drop down to any other luxury marque, and a chasm to the regular brands, like Ford. I love my Raptor, but no vehicle I've had has spent as much time at the dealership, and the service/experience is generally lacking.

So guys, is everyone aware they are redesigning the Tundra for 2022? You are all absolutely correct that the Tundra lacks in tech, power, and other modern features. So this is Toyota's chance to change that. I have no idea what they have planned. But it doesn't make sense to criticize the new unreleased 2022 Tundra based on the previous generation.

Correct. In truth, when I was forced to go shopping for something to replace my totaled 2018 Raptor, the one vehicle I wished was available to compare was this next gen Tundra. I am the first to ridicule Toyota's slowness to adapt/react & refusal to change up decade+ long designs.....in a sense its cowardice, fearful if they tweak the design too much or introduce a new engine too soon & see a widespread slew of QC issues then all of a sudden their "reliability" edge is gone, & when comparing actual looks/design/utility/performance....they're way behind the competition.

BUT - when they do debut a new vehicle & get it right, they tend to really nail it. In a way, if they're just taking ques from the best qualities of the big 3 over their last 2 generations of 1/2 tons & cherry picking the best stuff & putting a Toyota slant to the whole thing (which is basically what they do when it comes to trucks/SUVs lol) it may very well be every "truck guys" next sweetheart, & being a little behind the big 3 would be a GOOD thing. N/A V8 or SC'd V8 or Turbo V6 - NO EV/HYBRID, 10 speed auto (no CVT), have an actual shift lever, etc stuff like that

People forget - they were slapping blowers on 4x4 trucks w/ a warranty well before the TRX was even a glimmer in RAM's eye......& I totally expect them to do it again, I bet a next gen TRD truck is probably going to be above a Tremor but a lil below a Raptor off-road wise, but probably better than a Raptor or a TRX on road & may turn out being the perfect goldilocks porridge so to speak

Also, does the marker lights mean it's wide enough to require them? That would be interesting!

I'm curious to know that answer also, but I also seen alot of Tacomas with the amber grill lights, and I know damn well they're not needed because of width.

Lexus service is like nothing I've ever experienced. I have a 2014 ISF and the service unreal. Covering warranties that time was expired on, loaner every time. Best I've ever experienced. I kinda want a new Bronco but the dealer here is terrible and the closest decent Ford dealer is farther than I'd rather travel for service/warranty work. So for now I'll wait. The local Ford dealership did change owners so fingers crossed they get it together.
