Stupid question but, is there a reason there needs to be a limited number of color options? I understand that it's helpful to have a limited number of colors for dealers to select from perhaps, but if you're putting in an order, why not allow any color in Ford's inventory?

I was thinking that perhaps it's expensive to keep these colors in stock in the factory? I can see that to an extent, but you can take your vehicle to any body shop and they can do any color you want and match to your existing faded paint. Is it because the factory is painted by machine, and they have more work to switch out paint between runs of vehicles on the factory line?

If there isn't a logistical/cost reason than it seems like it would be a big selling point to open up the color options. Sure there are more risky colors that might hurt resale value, but not sure that grabber yellow is better on a mustang than it would be on a Raptor in that regard.

Adding colors adds complexity and cost to the build process. It would not make sense from either perspective to add niche colors from other models with a low take rate to the F-150 plant.

I was hoping for Performance Blue as well. The lack of a metallic gray leads me to believe there still might be more colors. I hope...

Sometimes things are hidden in plain sight.

After stumbling on a color chart for the 2021 Bronco on a Bronco forum, we have a list of colors for the 2021 Raptor.

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/2021-ford-exterior-color-brochure-available.5657/page-2

Colors:
Code Orange
Antimatter Blue
Velocity Blue
Rapid Red
Race Red
Agate Black
Iconic Silver
Oxford White
Lead Foot Gray

Of course colors could exist we don’t know about but I have a feeling this is probably it as I haven't seen any other test mules in the wild in any other colors.

Velocity Blue doesn't look terrible but Code Orange is definitely growing on me. Fords decision to go with orange as the accent color for the Raptor makes the base graphics look odd.

it is a cost issue. For example, Porsche will let you custom order any past color in their inventory but it will cost 12 k. Now Ford could offer us a better set of rotational colors that just cost a bit extra.

I love my Velocity Blue but if Tuxedo Black comes back out, time to trade. Awesome color and way many more mods go with it.

And here I thought that 100k you spent actually included paint
