When ram did their interior everyone said wow , just didn’t feel that with this one. I guess I was expecting more drastic changes

I’m 99% certain that whenever the Gen 3 Raptor comes out, the vast majority of the members on this forum will approve, and eventually get one.

I agree. But Ford has their work cut out for them. The Gen 3 will have the same cab as the Gen 2, so the cabs will look similar—the Gen 1 to Gen 2 didn’t have such a problem. In light of that, Ford is going to have to nail the front end and the fenders of the Gen 3 to make it look better and distinct from the Gen 2, which is hard to do because the Gen 2 is near perfect in its stance. The new rear suspension, and likely new powertrain (electric V6, V8, or whatever) will only further highlight the break between the two generations.

I am excited for the Gen 3. The generator, lay flat seats, flat surface center console, and better safety tech—the lane assist in the new Explorers essentially drive themselves, will all be nice additions to an already great platform.

History says 3 years .....why would it be different now

It's merely a trend, not a pattern. So, what's different now as opposed to the start of Gen 1 and/or Gen 2?

(1) Ford has announced last year that cycle time and mid-cycle actions will occur with greater frequency. Hence, the bevy of new vehicles in the past year or so. And the reason why the Gen 2 will refresh much sooner.

(2) The Raptor sells extremely well with good margin. Eliminating a year or two of Raptor production is money lost. Ford will do what is necessary to quench any run by Dodge in the off-road segement. A sooner-rather-than-later Gen 3 refresh will help absorb the TRX impact. Knowing Ford exercises a more reactive strategy, we will most likely see a V8 Raptor within a couple years.

Keep your eyes peeled, the Gen 3 will be coming a lot faster than you may think.

Agreed. I don’t see Ford waiting 3 years given that the TRX is debuting next month, which means it will likely hit the market end of this year or next. Ford isn’t going to let Ram release the TRX and do nothing for two plus years. We already saw pictures of the new rear suspension on the Raptor. And given that the new generation F150 is not a major overhaul from the current generation, it won’t take Ford that long to get the new Gen 3 ready for market. Also, Ford only waited a year to release the Gen 1 after the new 09 F150.

Whew... Glad I got the 2020 Rappy.

The 2021 has some cool features like the center console thing and lay flat seats, but the Raptor looks better and will still kick @$$.

Maybe until it's announced it's another ecoboost or hybrid powertrain. Hybrid probably more likely than a V8 tbh.

Given how similar the gen3 looks (not a bad thing to me it is a great selling truck so they weren't about to reinvent it) the gen3 raptor is not gonna look that different from the current one.
